I just finished my first opt-in page today.

- How do you like the design of the page?
- Does it look okay in other browser?
- How does copywriting on this page? (I. E.  Pre-headline, Main-headline,

- Is there anything on this page that would keep you from joining my list?
- etc. . .

I'd say it looks fine.   At the same time, it also looks like every other one of these types of pages I've seen, and since they look fine, then it looks like them.   I don't know what else you could do to encourage people to action with the format.

Alrighty...
First - WHAT design? It's extremely boring.
Sure, it's got proper formatting and a legible font, but the moment I get to that page, I wanna leave.
There is nothing that grabs my attention. Looks like a sales page.
This is a landing page. The signup form should show "above the fold". Try to keep it all in the browser window. You don't have to "sell" a free product... you need to "tease" visitors, give them the biggest benefit you can, make them feel they simply have to have that product (It's FREE, dammit!! Why doesn't that LEAP off the page???), and they will sign up.
If you're going to use an image, use the cover of the book - lose your picture. It adds no value. Not that you don't look perfectly nice, but showing your face is not the function of the page.
If something on that page does not scream "sign up right now", get rid of it.
You might consider also using a vibrant color in the background, or a texture or something.
