You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet!

WWW
« on: March 16, 2008, 03:49:04 PM »

You may or may not know that on Feb. 25 Yahoo opened a "Digg" like service called Yahoo Buzz... just like the former site you can "buzz" stories and have people vote for them... so far the results for many sites have been very, very good...

From Mike Arrington's "TechCrunch" blog he says that Yahoo claims that they've sent over 16 million visitors to sites featured on their "Buzz" arena... and they've gathered data from some of their linked partners:

* Salon got so excited about a February 28 link from the Yahoo home page that they issued a press release - they had 1 million unique visitors that day, the most ever to the 12 year old site.

* US Magazine was linked from Yahoo on February 27, and had the second highest traffic day ever. 32% of visits that day came from the Yahoo home page.

* Huffington Post reported 800,000 unique visitors from a Yahoo-linked story.

* Smoking Gun, Portfolio.com, Dallas Morning News and Imaginova all reported significant traffic increases after links from the Yahoo home page.

* Sugar, Inc. sites have had nearly 1.8 million unique visitors sent from five different Buzz stories on the Yahoo home page.

"Yahoo Buzz" looks like a social bookmarking site that might be worth checking out and seeing what kind of traffic you can generate... heck, it's free so what can it hurt?!...

Hope this helps...

Success!!!

Thanks for the tip, I too usually stick with digg, but it's getting a bit spammish over there.

You have to be careful also when posting to digg. They no longer accept article news from ezinearticles, goarticles and other article directories because of spammers. What I usually do is to post on my blog and use the URL post to submit to digg or post on squidoo and submit from my squidoo lens.

Will certainly try this.  I have tried my best to distance myself from Yahoo because you know, Google rocks.  But if Buzz is as good as it is advertised, I might start thinking about using Yahoo's services again.

I think Yahoo has been kinda pushed to the side since google has been declared King of the Mountain.
Might be time to head back and give yahoo buzz a try.

Any updates on bing anyone?

Hi everyone, just joined this forum and am pretty much a newbie.  I found this discussion of DIGG and BUZZ very interesting, but don't have a clue about how to make use of them. Would anyone care to give me the basics? Thanks, Marimack
