Hey guys, I know this is a rather broad topic, but a lot of people want to know. . .

And i know the answer already. . .  I just want to see how other people look at it. . .  Proper email marketing with optin, coreg, or survey leads is faster at making your site come up in the rankings. . .  but are the rankings really what is important?

Or, at the end of the day. . .  isn't it the total sales you've generated more important?

Just a thought for discussion.  At (link removed) we supply all of the optin data that's going around, and our clients are steady: meaning they wouldn't keep doing it if there wasn't good value in what they're doing. .  Yes, we do sell coreg data below industry rates, and there is value in doing so, but we also carry the largest selection of data available.

Now, if you can do SEO real good. . .  how long does it take to get things started where you would be happy with the income you generate? 3 months? 6 months? A lot of companies can't wait for this kind of wait for a turn-around.  Let me hear some optinions. . .

Often people ask how we are able to offer genuine optin data for so cheap. .  A lot of times it will be the same database offered at a competing site for only 30% of the price. . .  It's because we have a low overhead, low advertising budget, we're not greedy, and because of this we can pass along the savings to our clients.

Thanks,
J / James

Well here is my answer to all this...

First, I look at traffic in two ways. 1) Attracting Traffic and 2) Getting Traffic...

Attracting Traffic is all about SEO (on page and off page optimization) as well as lots of other things I do that attract traffic over time...

Getting Traffic is all about the co-reg, press releases, site or blog advertising and so on that brings (or gets) traffic to your site.

I believe that natural traffic as well as payed traffic are both equally important. Also, on the front end it's not necessarily about the sales but rather the conversion of opt-ins once you factor in the life time value of each subscriber.

The money will be made on the backend and recurring promotions over the lifetime of the subscriber. Even a loss-leader promotion to develop a list is a good strategy IF you already know your numbers...

Doing SEO is not hard unless you are going after a keyword phrase you have no business going after. What I mean is keyword research is very important but you want to identify a markets weaker areas which are less competitive keywords and attack those keywords first.

Why attack at the strongest point when you can dominate those less competitive keyword phrases first, that are related of course, and then attack the bigger keywords once you have leverage.

There is a lot more to it than that... this was the simple answer  Grin

That was well written.   Yes dominate the less competitive.   Then attack the popular, once you have leverage.   That's like my anthom now.   It took me a long time to realize this because most marketing matrial over look or just don't explain clearly.   Yes, first be a big fish in a little pond then swim up stream and gobble up the jungle.   I agree with you.

I think SEO is far better than email marketing..

Even though its all depends on website theme and market...

Its also depend that to which people you are sending mails...

while SEO always gives you quality traffic to your website..

Hi,

S. E. O? - I feel it's overrated, highly, overrated, because you need targeted traffic focused and ready to buy your product or service.
Now here's something weird, forget SEO and hit the web big time get your to do list and work it daily, your free ads (lots ' n ' lots) ezine ads (these work!) forums on anything, share thoughts opinions find some new friends on social pages. . . . . and you just might find yourself up there on google! - I did (good job I was sitting down).
Get creative, have you ever been on Yahoo answers? - It's great, answer a question or ask a question (you can leave your url!) -what do owls eat in winter when all there usual prey is hibernating?- that's my question I'm going on in a moment.
There is no marketing too funky, get in the mix. (it's a Hoot!)

To your success
Phil.

I think and very much believe that SEO is far much better and effective than Email Marketing.   As most of the emails are sent and marked spam by most of the email providers.

The main difference that I see between email marketing and SEO is emails are sent in bulk and most of the mails go to uninterested audiences and SEO is used to get interested audience.
For eg.   If we send email to online business professional that is regarding some cosmetics product its of no use.   But If SEO of the site of cosmetic product is done properly then the person who is interested in it will search for it and get it.

I hope I didn't confused much of you.   Wink

Thanks
