Free & Low Cost Traffic Using Ezine Advertising (02:12)

From Tony Blake's OnlineMarketingRadio.net - Your Host: Jay Jennings

This Week: Free & Low Cost Traffic Using Ezine Advertising

Ezine advertising is all about the electronic magazines you find online. These ezines are sent out to subscribers through e-mail, and they are typically also found on the ezine publisher's website. They are usually very focused on one particular subject matter, as are traditional magazines. That fact makes ezines a terrific place for you to look if you're interested in advertising to generate highly-targeted traffic to your own online business. And the good thing is that there are several ways for you to get involved.

One way for you to get involved is through affiliate marketing. Starting an affiliate program can put you in touch with thousands of other businesses online, all of whom are looking either to advertise, or to make money as an affiliate. Ezines are among those who are looking to be an affiliate. Just be careful about this: a brand new ezine will not have nearly as many subscribers as an established one, so you may not always be getting as much traffic right away as you think.

Instead of starting an affiliate program and waiting for an ezine to make the first move, you can do a search online to find all of the ezines in a particular market and make a list. Go to the sites and take a look at what the ezine has to offer its subscribers. See if you can determine how many subscribers the ezine has. This will be a key factor in knowing whether this is a good place to advertise if you're looking for high traffic. Then you need to contact the ezine directly and make a proposal. Work out the details of cost and placement, and you're done. Be careful, though. Many of the more popular ezines will already have advertisers competing for their space, so they can afford to charge higher prices for the ads. Stay away from those who would break your budget.

A final way for you to consider getting into ezine advertising is to do it all yourself. If you have a website where you sell a product or service, consider developing an ezine around that, and the lifestyle that your customers live. This is a surefire way to get targeted traffic as your readership expands. Just be aware of the amount of work it will take for you to create and manage an ezine. If you feel it's worth the effort, go for it. The rewards can often be great with these do-it-yourself ventures.

This is very helpful for me.  I am still new to the whole internet marketing thing.  I have looked into article marketing and have heard great things about it.  Thanks Tony.

As always, Jay's the man! One resource I've found helpful is Charlie Page's Directory of Ezines (not an affiliate link), a veritable treasure trove of publication data for Internet newsletters and magazines. It lists things like circulation, format, publishing frequency, types of ads accepted (free, solo, sponsor, etc.), and contact information; many ezines offer discounts to DOE members, too.

My only problem is the freshness of the list. It's not clear how publishers create or update their listings, and I've found a number of ezines in the directory that no longer exist. Even if the listing is current, who's to say it's accurate (no auditing)?

Still, as a lifetime member I've used it numerous times to find ezines to promote affiliate products and my own. I highly recommend it (affiliate link).

BTW, where's Jay been?

HI
The part that I didn't understand is doing your own Ezine!
In case I am already short of trafic or subscribers, how can I get users for my ezine?
The problematic is still the same I need trafic either to my website or to my ezine!

Besides I have one basic question and please don't laugh:) When I say Ezine I think newsletter, is it right?

PS.  I am no marketer:)

Generally speaking, yes. Ezine = electronic magazine. Whether you call it an ezine, newsletter, or something else, you want to send regular content to your subscribers.

To keep this on topic, why not advertise in an ezine for subscribers? Or advertise a product you've created and put the buyers on your list? Or promote a product as an affiliate in someone else's ezine and capture the prospects in your autoresponder?
