...the bank sold my parents' home
right out from under them
with no warning at all!
We still don't know how this happened, or how it was even possible, and may not know for several days.
Three weeks before this my parents had sent a one month payment to the bank which was returned to them with a curt letter stating that they would only accept TWO payments to bring it up to date, and that NOTHING less would be accepted.
So the bank has done something very sneaky, underhanded and intentional here.
I don't mean to point fingers, but whatever is going on does not seem to be the least bit ethical, and perhaps not even legal.
We now have less than thirty days to get my parents a new place to stay.
They do own one last piece of real estate, a small coffee shop.
There is a room behind the coffee shop that looks like a stone dungeon.
There is a dirt floor on one side of it, and cement on the other. The walls are stone, as you can see. The building is about 100 years old, and looks it.

My parents can't even move their things into there before we get it fixed up, let alone live there.
We've got to raise the money to fix up this space for them, or they will be literally living in their car.
And no, they won't move in with me, even though I begged them to, because I live 12 hours away.
You see, they need to run their coffee shop just to have money to eat.
And because the real estate market is so bad, selling the shop is not an option.
On top of all this, their house has been sold for MUCH LESS than the amount still owed on it.
Mom and Dad are accountable for the balance owing, so we're scared to death that they might also lose their personal possessions and their car, too.
And if you've heard about the bailout package in the news in the USA, it's no help at all.
When we heard about it, my Dad called the lender and their reply was, "We don't qualify to offer any of our homeowners assistance because we are a lending bank, not a REAL financial institution."
