I'm working on 3 videos to put on youtube as a funnel to a fourth video that I want to charge for.

I'm just not sure what the best way is to set up that 4th video to process payments.
Clickbank and Paydotcom don't really seem right at this point, I want to try this without them.
I was thinking video.google but they only pay quarterly.

Has anyone here tried the video.google PPV system?

I may set up that 4th video with both the video.google and as a private youtube with a link on a paypal thank you page and autoresponder backup link. Would having a dual payment choice be too confusing for people or a nice option?

Thanks for thoughts.

Jeff...

You might want to check out the "pay per view" set-up at one of my "secret" video sites... veoh.com -- they have a PRO account set-up (free to join) that let's you charge for your videos... Veoh collects the money for you and then forwards you the funds (minus a small processing charge)... they can even limit the amount of time or plays that someone has access to your video for...

Of course the idea thing is to set up your own private membership type page/script and handle everything yourself... in the end it may be more profitable for you... for about $100 a year you can get a high-traffic account at somewhere like DreamHost that gives you 5-terabytes of bandwidth just to start (and increased by 20gb every week)... that's more than you'll ever need for most video streaming... couple that with a simple membership site script that processes payments through Paypal or 2CO and you can have a system that is designed to run specifically the way you want it to... and you'll never have to worry about the 3rd party video services...

Heck, depending on how big your video is and how much you are charging for access you could also just store the video and feed it from the Amazon Web Services Simple Storage Service (AS3) and embed the video on any plain vanilla web account using a membership script... they charge .18 cents per GB for the first 10 terabytes used on data transfer... you can allocate some of the fee you charge for access to pay for the data transfer fee (I doubt your video will be at or larger than 1gb)... if you were to use 250gb of data transfer a month that's only $45 in fees -- and you only pay for what is used (not including the original .15 cents per GB of storage used)...

By the way, most of the current Silicon Valley start-ups and service sites are using the Amazon servers/system because of their uptime reliability and low entry cost...

Hope this helps...

Success!!!

PS: If you're interested in checking out and getting an account at DreamHost (which is where this board and most of the videos on the site are hosted) let me know and I'll get you a $50 discount promo coupon that you can use (and all DH accounts come with a FREE domain name registered to you)... just PM me...  blake

Great resource Tony - Never hear of veoh.com.

About S3...

I recently did a few sales that included over a dozen videos, and I also moved some of my membership sites that have streaming video to my S3 account.

So far, I have used just under 1 GB for storage, and about 12 GB of transfer. My total bill?  $2.26

Now, if you have a hosting account with TONS of room and TERAbytes of bandwidth already, you may not need to do this.

I see S3 as ideal if you have a limited, SHARED hosting account, or if you want to put multiple videos on your site (for example a dozen video testimonials on your sales page you are going to launch...) then you may want to go this route.

Tony, Veoh looks like a great site, thanks for sharing that.
It's cool that they can submit to other sites like tubemogul does.
I read everything I could about the pro account.
I like that it integrates with Paypal.
But, it wasn't clear if they hold the funds at all and pay monthly
or if you get credited instantly/daily.

Jwellsy...

If I remember correctly Veoh pays out monthly... it's done just in case there are refund requests or challenges in delivering the video...

I'll check into it more and report back...

Hope this helps...

Success!!!

I can understand monthly payouts.
Video.google only pays quarterly
then they keep at least 30%.
Checkout #8 of their TOS.
https://upload.video.google.com/video_terms.html
I'm not sure why anyone would agree to those terms.

As for S3 ... Any particular techie type hassles in getting things setup? This is strictly a storage medium - correct?

Thanx!

Great info- a lot of people would probably think at some point you'd need a dedicated server for that stuff, but this seems like a better and cheaper option.
