It's not training its just another way to get your money or get you to leave your company and join their oppurtunity. Or even worse they will try to take the people in your group away!! I wrote all about it on my website.

Yeah, I noticed that.  Suddenly everyone is offering 'coaching'.

There are three good reasons:

1) There is a profitable market for it.

2) It provides a virtually wide open back end.

3) Successful "students" are invaluable sources of social proof ("Want to learn from the person who taught Tellman Knudsen about list building?").

I always encounter this.  I just don't pay much attention to these "training/coaching" and even to their training materials.  I think it's just marketing strategy to buy their products and services.

Generally, it's the other way around: the training is at the high cost end of the sales funnel, and they (try to) sell you a lot of other things leading up to it.

They're promoting Training because people in today's time want to learn and are willing to pay for it.
College is the perfect example of that.  People will pay 10's of thousands of dollars for college and it's just training and information.  People want to learn how to make money online, which is why you'll always see training being promoted.
