I really didn't get twittering at first (I see that so often).   It is a strange phenomenon and I succumbed about a week ago.   Frightened of wasting my time I decided to really get stuck in for one day and see what the fuss was all about.   Time very well spent.

The first guy I came across was Ed Dale (@Ed_Dale) and watched some of his videos which explained who to bother following etc.

Plenty of advice about Twhirls and other useful resources.   Realised there was a very switched on group of Internet Marketers Dan Raine et al.

On my twhirl up popped Ed announcing that he was on UStream. TV like now! with a link.   How great is that.   Then I began to see the power of UStream as all the watchers were able to interact and send live messages (don't quite know how that would work if there were thousands on line at the same time)  There were about 35 of us watching according to the stats on the site and one of those was Tony Blake - who shame on me I had never heard of before.   But he got a rave introduction as a great guy by Ed.   So of course I went to twitter - found him and hence my presence here.

Well I watched Tony's moving #10 videoblog which was a bit of a coincidence as I was intending to write about procrastination on my blog today.

So I am embedding his Vittler video on my blog.

What an amazing scene when it isn't being scammed this Social Networking is.   I can't believe the amount of great people and material to ponder for my marketing that I have picked up in one week.

GREAT!!

Keith...

Welcome to the ablakeforum - this is our new home, but this forum has been around in one iteration or another for over 15+ years... we were one of the first marketing/entrepreneurial forums on the world-wide web...

Thanks for liking my vlog #10 - that "Letter From Sam" is quite moving and inspirational... he's going through a tough time but just keeps moving forward, doesn't let anything stop him...

Twitter is an amazing tool... unfortunately for most it looks quite confusing and jumbled and they see very little value in it, but it's a very good tool for marketers if they just take the time to see what it's about, dip their toe in the water and learn how to use it in a very tactical way... I have a blast there, not only talking about important subjects or unleashing a rant but also as a bit of entertainment, sharing some humor, fun and something I call "Non-Sequiter Theater" which is a pretty whacky bit of craziness...

We have and are developing a social network that is attached to this board, it's called "BlakeSpace" and it's a place where members can share more about who they are, what they're about and what they're working on... it's not finished yet but soon will be bustling w/ members too...

Look around the board, enjoy, share, have fun... we let our hair down here, network and discuss with other members and use the tools, information and ideas here to build our businesses and grow our profits...

Thanks for coming on board... we know you'll love this place...

Success!!!

Hey, Keith!

WELCOME!

I know that if you're looking for an awesome bunch of intelligent marketers to learn from, you've found the perfect place. And hopefully you can share here some of your own tips and tricks!

This forum takes it up a notch; yes, there are newbies here, but we have a high percentage of very experienced business people that help take them beyond that initial phase of "How do I make money online" pretty fast.

It's entertaining, educational, inspiring, and more...

Hope you enjoy it as much as we do!!

Twitter really allowed me the opportunity to get to know some people I wanted to touch base with.

It's excellent!

Just want to throw in that in a weird turn of events it's Twitter combined with some past run ins that lead me here as well. Smiley   Anyone not using twitter yet is leaving a lot on the table.  Been having fun recently with hashtags.

The Twitter stuff I've seen reminded me of the "what I had for breakfast" type blogs I used to see (AKA complete waste of time).

Chris -
There is definitely a rhythm to Twitter that you need to learn to avoid the clutter of people who don't educate, enhance or entertain you...

I would suggest signing up, following a few key people that you are truly interested in hearing from, and "listening" to conversations that take place to find others you might never have known otherwise.

Jump in and comment when you feel you have something of value to say.

Soon, you'll be checking your twitter stream regularly to make sure you don't miss out on anything!

I check my stream constantly through the day, and have made some incredibly lucrative contacts and made some very interesting friends. I learn and laugh almost every day! Sometimes arguments, too... I find the people I interact with to be highly intelligent, very busy people with 20 balls in the air, people who know how to have fun, who enjoy what they do.... like me!

Give it a fair shot. I'm sure you'll benefit.

Hello I just joined this board today.  I was happy to see a post regarding Twitter as I have been trying to make sense of it and decide if it was worth my time to get involved there.  Much appreciate the posts and replies.

Since this is my first post I must say I am happy to find this board.  So nice to find a board where good information is discussed and you can learn stuff you have questions about.

Thanks!

Twitter is good, bad, and awesome as well as a waste of time!  Depending on how you manage your time..
Does that make sense?  I hope not LOL

Actually yes that does make sense. All of the networking type of sites (myspace, tagged, facebook, etc) as well as Twitter can be any one or all of those things depending on how you use them. I am slowly but surely learning to utilize them better.

It's been a month, and I haven't seen anything to change my mind about it.

Hey Chris - What's your Twitter ID?
I'm curious to see how you've utilized the tool, the network you've created and the input you've provided.

until I was turned onto Twhirl and started using it, I had a hard time understanding what was going on.  I understood that people were talking to each other but I couldn't find both sides of the conversation until now...   http://twhirl.org   Free software, works great.

If you use facebook and have figured out how to connect twitter and facebook together whenever you post a Twhirl/Twitter Tweet  your facebook automatically is updated at the sametime.

I had no idea what the hell a Tweet was until David Thompson clued me in...  Tweet is a post made on Twitter.   Stupid name but sort of makes since.   LOL

I just started this Social Site stuff a little over a week ago so am new to using the tools and sites myself.  Somehow I am figuring it out at a rapid pace.

Terry, have you tried the FLOCK browser - http://www.Flock.com

It integrates it all into the 'People' sidebar - Twitter, Facebook, Digg
and more - while it also serves as a multi-tabbed browser like Firefox.

I've just started using it, and it rocks!

All success

Looks like I'm going to spend my Saturday signing up and exploring Twitter Smiley
It also looks like a waste of time to me, however I have nothing to base my assumption on except viewing Twitter people here and there.
I believe the first I ever heard of twitter was thru Tony here at this forum. Now I see John Reese praising it along with H&R Block using it.
I'm sure by the end of the day something will "Snap" and I'll get it.
