As we continue to watch a fragile global economy - see the financial pain at home (job losses / home foreclosures / 401k shrinkage / soaring health costs, etc) - and as we get ready to enter 2009, with a new US President in the White House - we're witnessing a shift in people's priorities at the same time.
Options - More and more people are turning to "alternative ways" to gain more control over their own finances and their financial futures.
Home Businesses - One of the most popular choices is to start a Home Business, which might be - Affiliate Marketing / Direct Sales / Internet Marketing / Viral Marketing / Social Media Marketing / Membership Sites, among others - or some 'combination' of these.
Network Marketing - Among the most familiar, and most common, selections is the Network Marketing business model - as it enables a person without much capital, but with some vision and determination, to become a successful Home Biz entrepreneur. Beyond that, it offers the power of both "leverage" and "residual income" - and this industry tends to enjoy a healthy growth rate during tough times, recessions. etc.
InterNetwork Marketing - More recently, ONline Network Marketing has become the business of choice for many - utilizing Internet Attraction Marketing + Self Branding + some of the different business models mentioned above - to develop an "integrated" business enterprize, with "multiple income streams" - becoming positioned as a true Home Biz "owner" (-vs- becoming simply a Sales Rep for a particular Direct Sales, Affiliate or Network Marketing company).
Skills / Strategies / Systems - To profit greatly, and succeed highly - using
any Home Business model - requires many ingredients. At the TOP of the list is "marketing" expertise - period.
Yes, the 'right' marketing Skills, Strategies and Systems are absolutely imperative.
Balance - But equally important in my opinion is a healthy "balance" between WARM marketing and COLD marketing - between OFFline marketing and ONline marketing. Each has its great strengths and will appeal to different folks in different ways, depending on individual interest levels, experience, finances, etc.
The Y-O-U Factor - However - having said all of the above - I would like to share with you what, in my view, are some truths about the single "biggest" ingredient for long term success and prosperity in
any Home Business:
= The Y-O-U FACTOR (Truth #1) =
Y-O-U - must always, always be the one IN CONTROL. It must be YOUR Home Business. A true "business" is bigger than any one company or any product or service. A real business cannot just 'disappear' overnight. In a real business,
you have the control - 100% - of a core asset.
Ownership - For example, in Network Marketing, you have zero control and zero ownership - unless you have branded "yourself". You have a tentative contract with a Network Marketing company that 'could' be terminated at the drop-of-a-hat (see their Policies & Procedures). You may think your downline is your asset, but it’s not - it is owned by the company, not you. You are essentially a 100% commission based Sales Rep. Not that this is bad - NO. It's just that this is the reality.
What would happen if your company 'hit the wall' - or took away your distributorship - or closed its doors tomorrow, for one reason or another? It happens all the time.

IF this were to happen, you could be dead in the water - right? If you were earning your living from that one company, you’d be in a huge hole, and that’s because a company or opportunity is not a "real business" – it’s just a 'part' of one.
Here are the REALITIES:
YOU, Inc - To really safeguard yourself (YOU), you need to BRAND "yourself" if at all possible => JOHN DOE, Inc. => J. DOE ENTERPRIZES, etc.
Then, YOU are your business. Your name, your face, your personality, your words, your actions, and your energy - they are
your business.
YOU… Serving others in some way, solving people’s problems, the relationships that you build, and the value you provide to the world, become an actual real life commodity that can be traded for money.
In this way, you and YOUR business are immune to outside circumstances and influences. You're not so vulnerable. No matter what happens in the marketplace, your Home Biz will remain intact and able to produce profits - as long as you choose to.
And that's regardless of whether you build your business primarily OFFline -or ONline - or both -- or whether you use Attraction Marketing or not - it doesn't matter.
